    Shortcuts

    Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

    After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:ProtectedPages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

    (nonadmin comment) You have not stated a reason for the lowering, nor have you contacted the protecting admin (if active and they are) prior to asking here as required by the above rules in yellow. Those aside, this page regularly gets around 50k page view visitors daily (1,528,676 in the last month). I see no good coming from lowering the protection of such a prominent and active page, especially since it's got quite a few reverts in the last few weeks on EC protect as it is.     Gaza war

    Regarding the box in the header, I believe the "captured or abducted" count should reflect those who have been released or have died in captivity. Although 251 individuals were captured or abducted, some have since been released or killed. The Wikipedia page should present this information as follows:

    - Captured or Abducted: 251

    - Released: [number]

    - Killed in Captivity: [number]

    Gaza_genocide

    "Israeli soldiers have summarily executed Palestinian civilians, often in front of their families." This is one citation that leads to another citation (why not list the original reference?) where it describes a single alleged incident that has been disputed. The original citation is careful to use the term 'alleged' and 'still under verification' and yet the wiki page does not say 'alleged' or 'accused of' - and goes on to add the word 'often', even though only one alleged incident is referenced. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 169.230.248.39 (talk) 02:19, 28 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
